Poker Stars World Record

Poker Stars Sets Guinness World Record

Poker Stars had a busy weekend setting a couple world records which I don’t think will be beaten anytime soon as they are stellar world records. Online poker has seen Guinness world records set in the past, but none of them involved so many players as the record Poker Stars managed to set this weekend. The world record which they we’re trying to break was the biggest online poker tournament ever played, and with a target of 35,000 players I’m sure some we’re skeptical as to whether it would fill up or not.

The tournament actually ended up filling up days before the start of the tournaments and many players who waited to register for the tournament missed out. The 35,000 players who played in the tournament paid a $10+$1 buy-in into the tournament and Poker Stars juiced the prize pool up by adding $150,000 to the prize pool. When the poker was playing Poker Stars also set another record for having the most online poker players ever online at one time with 250,540 players across 33,582 tables. So as you can see the players who couldn’t get into the record setting tournament didn’t mind getting in on other action while the tournament was played.

It got so busy that night on Poker Stars that a lot of players we’re experiencing less than smooth connections and many people timing out. Poker Stars ended up getting the servers under control and many stopped experiencing the lag, but there we’re definitely some issues during the entire world record breaking process. The actual tournament didn’t take too long to complete either and players we’re into the money spots within three hours of starting the tournament.

I suppose a lot of people we’re not playing the tournament and just losing there chips to the blinds as they came around because I would figure 35,000 players would take awhile to play out if everyone was actively playing the game. The ten players who managed to make it to the final table of the tournament we’re guaranteed a minimum of $1500 and on an $11 investment that isn’t too bad. If you’re wondering how the top ten finished in the tournament you can check out the names below with how much money each player took home.

* Stan34Powa – $30,000
* Meiky777 – $20,000

I don’t think PokerStars.net will be trying to break there own record anytime soon, but they still have the most online poker action out of all the online poker rooms. If you’re looking for a poker room to play with then Poker Stars is great because the action is always brewing and a lot of the players who play at Poker Stars aren’t the best of poker players. There always running large MTT tournaments with even higher prize pools then this record setting tournament so get your account now and start playing some poker.
